A Libsyn webinar on YouTube, including explanation of the change in stats with LibSyn (describing some of their previous stats as 'buggy’). Some podcasters are seeing over 50% smaller stats, it transpires. From 31 minutes in, some actual stats (using the new methodology): 50% of podcast episodes in September got less than 162 downloads; 80% mobile; 5.3 iOS downloads to every one Android download. Lots more in here. From 49 minutes in, how to talk to advertisers about the falling stats. From 54 minutes, their dashboard. You could criticise Libsyn for previously wildly inaccurate stats with no filtering at all; or commend them for trying to put it right even if it meant them losing customers; both are probably valid viewpoints.

I’ve had a number of people contacting me over the past few weeks being really positive about podnews, and that’s really nice: thank you. Here’s how you can help: by please retweeting us - either the pinned tweet or today’s update; liking us on Facebook and resharing an update; or following us on LinkedIn and resharing an update. Resharing really helps us, in ways that just a 'like’ doesn’t: we’d like more people to get to know us. As of today, we have a live subscriber number on our front page so you can see how much of an effect you’re having: your support would be massively appreciated.
