The podcast:location tag is finalised

• The podcast:location tag has been finalised. The new tag is intended to describe a location that a podcast is about, and will be formally added to the Podcast Index’s 'podcast’ namespace at the end of January.

• Castopod now supports publishing shows with the new podcast:location tag. Quick work.

• maps·fm has already mapped many thousands of different podcasts, and is a great example of the discovery benefits of location for podcasting.

• Podcasts from Midroll were downloaded 1.8bn times in 2020. The company also cites data from Magellan AI that they 'sold ads for more unique advertisers and brands than any other US podcast network’.

• Joe Rogan has signed CdbMD Inc as a new, twelve-month advertiser. The company will be a category-exclusive advertiser. (We’d tell you more, but we like our emails to be delivered!)

• Headliner has added integration with Canva, for “direct access to millions of their graphics, images, templates, design elements, and more without leaving Headliner”.

• If you’re with Blubrry, you can now submit your podcast directly to Podchaser if they don’t have it.

• Spotify is currently running an experiment which suggests a podcast related to the artists in your top songs of the year, according to Ziad Sultan, Senior Director of Product Management at Spotify, who explains to the India Times how the personalisation works within Spotify’s app.
