Popular US rom-com podcast's first international production

• Meet Cute, a popular rom-com podcast, releases its first international production today. Written by Nigerian-based Kasimma and acted and produced by Nigerian creators, it’s a story of love, friendship and adventure. In the last 1.5 years, Meet Cute has created over 350 stories.

• A new podcast audio checking service called Vib3s has launched, to check your podcast’s audio quality is all that it should be. A free service, we tested it out with Podnews - our podcast's audio scored 3.5 - the algorithm didn’t like our background music much, but other scores made good sense.

• The IAB has released a new content taxonomy structure for public comment. The data provides a common language to be used when describing content, so that advertisers can choose where they want to advertise.

• Audio editing software company Hindenburg is to offer 40% off all its home-user products for International Podcast Day. The company has also announced two webinars on the day - An Introduction to the language of podcasting, and Una Introducción Al Lenguaje Del Podcasting. International Podcast Day is Thursday the 30th.

• Podcast hosting company Captivate revealed their new embeddable podcast player. Here’s what it looks like - it’s completely screenreader accessible, responsive and has a fully customisable design. The company also promises “a big reveal” on International Podcast Day. Podnews’s Editor is an advisor.

• Podcast hosting company Transistor has teased their upcoming dynamic audio insertion tool. The system will offer pre-roll and post-roll.

• iHeartMedia has partnered with Sonoro to launch a slate of eight podcasts for their Latinx podcast network My Cultura.

• Mumbrella write a feature-length piece on podcasting in Australia. “Podcast spend significantly scaling up is clearly some time away, considering of course that the Australian media and marketing industry tends to embrace change in measurement metrics and spending habits with the speed of a semi-trailer doing a U-turn.”

• In Amsterdam, RecSys 21 is taking place - a conference on recommendation systems. As part of that, PodRecs was a workshop on Sunday focusing on podcast recommendations. Present were a number of people from Spotify, Pandora, Amazon, Apple and the BBC, among others.
