Free podcasting MP3 encoder and editor released by Marco Arment

Marco Arment, the developer behind Overcast, releases Forecast, a free (and in beta) tool for OSX that is an MP3 encoder and editor - artwork, titles, descriptions and chapter points for those podcast apps that support them.

  • Howsound is a bi-weekly podcast on radio storytelling produced by Rob Rosenthal for PRX and Transom. “Avoiding cheesy sound design” is the latest episode.

  • Podcast host audioBoom claims it’s the first podcast network to become members of the IAB in the UK. They joined the IAB in the US in May 2017. New advertisers on audioBoom are being offered a 15% discount this month - email advertising@audioboom.com to find out what’s on offer.

  • The Australian ABC launch Howzat, a podcast that looks at sporting jargon. One episode wonders why golf is so obsessed with birdies.

  • iHeartRadio Australia is celebrating one million registered users. Their app claims to include the “largest podcasting library in Australia”. The press release also claims “iHeartRadio continues to experience impressive growth in usage and engagement across the platform and in just three months have seen a 350% increase in streaming hours from iHeartRadio’s integration into Google Home.”

  • Spreaker launches Private Episode Sharing, a way to give exclusive content to listeners, or sell it to them. You could also make a private podcast for your company.

  • The Portland Podcast Festival (Portland OR, USA) is tomorrow.
