Patreon: 'We messed up', cancels fee changes

  • In a blog post, Patreon - the funding website used by many podcasters - admits they “messed up”; won’t roll out the changes in charges, and promise to work with creators to fix the issues. “Fundamentally, creators should own the business decisions with their fans, not Patreon. We overstepped our bounds and injected ourselves into that relationship.”

  • Australian duo Hamish and Andy may have finished on the radio, but they have just signed a deal with PodcastOne to produce 40 podcasts over the next two years. PodcastOne is represented in Australia by their former broadcaster, Southern Cross Austereo.

  • Alpha Voice, a podcast distribution platform, is looking for a Podcast Producer. The website has no details of where (city or country) the company is based, though.

  • Jibo, a smart speaker with personality, announces a deal with iHeartRadio to get the radio company’s content on their device.

  • Yesterday, we noted that Google recommends -16 LUFS for audio intended for Google Home. Amazon recommend -14 LUFS. YouTube will alter audio to meet -13 LUFS. The AES recommend -16 to -20 LUFS. Standards? We don’t need no stinkin’ standards!

  • Sennheiser announces a collaboration with MouthMedia Network, the NYC-based podcast producer. Two new studios are powered by Sennheiser solutions. Mouth Media also announce a sweepstakes to win $500 worth of gear: that sweepstake page also includes a 25% discount code on Sennheiser product.
