Patreon comes out top for donations, says podcaster

• After a year working on The Program, a fiction podcast, the author has written their learnings. We learn that Patreon is the most successful donation tool for the show; a feature in Apple Podcasts really helped; and about the pleasures of Reddit.

• In Sweden, Spotify launched Spotifys julkalender, a playlist with curated christmas music and “three brand new Spotify Original Christmas podcasts with adored Swedish personalities”. It’s updated daily, and will be until December 24th. (Sweden celebrates Christmas on… Christmas Eve. Vilket konstigt land!)

• Carl Escoffier at Goldsmiths University of London wrote his final project on the podcast industry, and how it’s coped during the pandemic. Meanwhile, Lilian Gonzalez wrote about podcasters who started during lockdown; and JAR Audio wrote about the things 2020 taught them about podcast storytelling.

• The Refer-o-Matic, a way to share podcasts, has shared something of its own: a list of the top five shared podcasts.

• Transistor’s private podcasts now have expanded analytics with more information. Castos has a new player for their Seriously Simple Podcasting plugin. Captivate’s private podcast feeds now integrate with Zapier (Disclosures).
