  • A new audio drama marketplace, Dramafy has put out a call for submissions. A subscription service, it offers content creators a revenue sharing model based on listens. It launches in June.

  • Clubhouse has introduced their Creator First Finalists, shows to be hosted live on Clubhouse.

  • In the US, iHeartMedia has launched its own Private Marketplace, allowing advertisers to buy shows across the iHeartPodcast Network. Using Voxnest, it allows geo-targeting and “psychographic” targeting (only want “intrepid” listeners? Or “conquerors”?) We wonder if it can also target people who’ve had their first COVID-19 vaccination and are feeling a bit sleept.

  • The makers of Obsessed with… Line of Duty, a chart-topping accompaniment podcast to a popular UK police drama, are speaking at MIC’s Podcast Club (a virtual event) on Wednesday May 12. It’s free to attend.

  • Apple Podcasts Connect still appears to be unavailable for many users. As one example, Quill point out on Twitter that they’ve been locked out for two weeks. Apple have no statement and have made no public acknowledgement of any issues. In Podland podcast later today, James Cridland, Podnews’s editor, suggests that Apple are still treating podcasting as a fun hobby rather than a $1.4bn global business.

Tips and tricks - with Podcast Day 24

  • How to be a podcast guest is a good Twitter thread from Corey Haines. “Smile. Use gestures. Treat it as a performance.”

  • Buzzsprout’s Alban Brooke promised a tip for each like that this tweet got. We suspect he thought it would get about twelve; but so far it’s received 350 likes, and contains some great ideas. It would be rude for us to suggest you might like it too.
