• Panoply and Veritonic have inked a deal to help Megaphone by Panoply’s advertising partners choose the most effective ad creative for their campaigns.

• Family Ghosts, formerly with Panoply, is returning thanks to a new deal with Spoke Media. Expect season two in May.

• Caution: if your podcast title has the word “Entrepreneur” in it, you might get a legal threat from Entrepreneur Magazine, who has a trademark (number 5256907) on the word “entrepreneur” for podcasting. It’s been suing domain-name owners for some time; and has already threatened a podcaster with legal action.

• Event: Winter Podcast Upfront 2019 will give advertisers, agencies and media a first look at the newest partnerships, talent and shows slated for 2019. It’s the first to be held on the West Coast of the USA, in Beverly Hills CA, on Feb 20.

• Exclusive: Wondery is proclaiming Over My Dead Body as “the first zeitgeist show of 2019”: with about double the downloads seen by Dirty John and Dr Death in the same launch window. The podcast network is also celebrating this podcast being #1 in the Apple Podcast Charts simultaneously in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

• Alan Tépper has looked into RadioPublic’s new Podsites product, and says it’s a good automated option for some.

• A new podcasters group for Asian-American creatives, producers, hosts and editors has opened in New York City.

• There’s a new podcast recording studio in Sheffield, UK, run at Rebel Base Media’s headquarters. (The writeup says it’s free for a limited time.)

• Emmanuel Dzotsi, the co-host of Serial’s last season, is joining Gimlet to work on ReplyAll. Aloof British accents for the win! (Tip of the hat to Inside Podcasting for spotting this one, and linking to us this week.)

Newt Gingrich is podcasting: Newt’s World is a new podcast from Westwood One, launching on Sunday. A self-professed “podcast for thinkers”, the press release says that this podcast isn’t about politics; it’s about exploring the past, present, and future to understand where we’ve been and where we’re going. Equal Parts is a good new podcast for Valentine’s week - a series of true love stories, told by the couples themselves.
