  • RadioPublic have highlighted their recent new features in a blog post, including PodSites, a website generator for podcasters; a marketing attribution service called Sonar, and a new thing: HearMarks, a way of keeping (and sharing) parts of a podcast you’re listening to.

  • Promised by end Friday last week, the Google Podcasts app is still rolling out its “episode search”, and it is not yet visible to all users. It’s supposed to search through episode transcripts; but as far as we can see - we have it - it just appears to be a text search through episode show notes.   • Steven Goldstein has been poring over the latest Edison Research and Triton Digital results, and has discovered some interesting data - not least, how successful Spotify could be for podcasting.

  • An interesting idea: dynamic ad insertion without the ads - The Quicky is dynamically inserting the latest news into their podcast, followed by an “evergreen investigation”. The podcast is hosted on Omny Studio and the dynamic insertion is done through Triton’s Tap for Podcasts ad server.

    • Which reminds us of a great example, if you ever want one, of host-read adverts: within Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend. Worth a listen to hear just how he does these. (They, too, are dynamically injected).
  • An American health worker has been fired after he made racist remarks on a podcast.

  • Book: El Gran Cuaderno de Podcasting is one of the first books in Spanish about podcasting, from the well-known Spanish podcaster Francisco Izuzquiza. It’s released today.
