The sold-out ShePodcasts LIVE event will be streaming live via Podbean, it’s been announced. The full schedule for the live stream has been posted on the Podbean website.

Podchaser now has three million podcast credits in its database, the “IMDB of podcasting” has posted in a tweet. Podnews shows selected data in our podcast pages - anyone can add credits like hosts, producers and musicians to podcasts.
- By contrast, we’ve had no more details on how to be part of Apple’s “hosts and guests” feature, which launched a few days ago. It appears a closed and proprietary Apple service for selected podcasts.

Podcast analytics is turning into a political story in Memphis TN, USA, where the City of Memphis has spent $75,000 to a company called Kudzukian to produce Neighborhood Connect and Best in Blue. “According to a year-in-review presentation, Kudzukian claims “Best in Blue” has 22,000 listens monthly, but the contract states the average reach is only 6,000.” says a story from Fox13, claiming that the high cost isn’t justified. (“Listens” is not the same as “reach”, otherwise known as “unique users”).

Magellan looks back at Black Friday or Cyber Monday podcast advertising stats from last year in the US, from 68 different advertisers. Meanwhile, CivicScience report that 22% of podcast listeners made a purchase because of a podcast ad.

A new app, PodTalk, lets your listeners add timestamped comments (text or voice) as they listen to your podcast. Others can then listen to those comments as they listen to the show. It’s iOS only for now; the app’s author says Android depends on getting enough traction.

The Bello Collective has written a piece analysing the UK podcasting scene. “British podcasters have yet to master the intimate, long-form, narrative style which really put podcasts on the map,” the piece says - arguably a difference in style between US and UK public broadcasters.
