  • CBC’s Someone Knows Something podcast returned on November 7th. In season 3, host and investigator Ridgen revisits his ground-breaking documentary Mississippi Cold Case, a civil rights era case he has lived with for more than 13 years, which follows white supremacists, domestic terrorism and failure in the American justice system. An email to us says:

    • The podcast broke the series previous record, earning more than 2.3 million downloads in its first week - with nearly 1 million people downloading episode one alone.
    • Listeners worldwide downloaded CBC podcasts 5 million times from November 5-11, 2017 and Someone Knows Something (seasons 1, 2 & 3) accounted for 3.2 million downloads.
    • It’s reached #1 on both the US and Canadian Apple podcast charts.
  • Podtrac release the top 20 US podcasts for October 2017. The Daily is now at #2. iHeartMedia has a new entry at #9.

  • Pacific Content’s Dan Misener posts that the new iOS 11 camera supports QR codes, and if you make an iTunes link, it’ll open Apple Podcasts automatically. Makes sense to use this in any print advertising for your podcasts. Here’s a QR code to try it out on.

  • A piece from the Sydney Morning Herald - Comic Tony Martin on podcasts, writing and the art of funny voices. His new podcast Child Proof, out this month, is a sitcom script that wasn’t bought by any networks for being too niche (it’s about a couple that don’t have kids).

  • Panoply Media launch a new podcast, Family Ghosts. It focuses on family secrets.

  • The ABC brings their race, culture and identity podcast It’s Not A Race back for a second series. It’s described as “The podcast Australia still needs right now”.
