Spotify has published its 2022 Podcast Trends Report. “If 2021 was a story of content explosion, then 2022 is one of diversification”, the company says. Other than the details above from Megaphone, the data says:
- The time spent listening (via Spotify) in-car has more than doubled, while smart speakers and smart TVs have seen more than 80% increases.
- Health & Fitness is the fastest-growing category (on Spotify) in four of the largest markets: with French listeners more than trebling the amount of time they listen.
- Chartable data suggests that true crime is the most effective genre for cross-promotion.

In Australia, ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network Australia claims the platform is outperforming the global conversion rate. Data from Podsights also shows ad spend is up 54% year-on-year.

Samsung has announced the 2022 Galaxy Store Awards. Best podcast partner was announced as Acast, and best podcast went to CurtCo’s all-star fiction podcast SOLAR.
