    • The report also reveals that the fastest-growing countries by content creation are Argentina, Brazil and Italy; the UK and US are at #6 and #7 respectively. The fastest-growing countries by consumption are Czechia, Chile and Argentina.
  • You’re having a laugh: the most listened-to podcast genres in the US are… comedy, news, and “society & culture”, according to new data released by Edison Research’s Podcast Consumer Tracker, which the company calls “the only comprehensive measure of what podcast consumers are listening to (not downloading)”. 36% of weekly podcast consumers are listening to at least one comedy show, according to the data, while 23% listen to a news show.

  • A new legal risk for podcast directories and podcast apps: unauthorised image use. Podnews has learnt that a company called ImageRights is sending legal letters to podcast directories, demanding money for “copyright infringement”: in this case, they claim that a podcast directory has reproduced podcast artwork that contains their client’s copyrighted image. All podcast directories automatically pull images straight from podcasters’ RSS feeds; republishing infringing images is, this company claims, further copyright infringement.
