  • AudioUK is conducting a business census of audio and radio production companies based in the UK. Data from a previous survey in 2015 was used for lobbying the BBC and the commercial sector, and helped achieve government funding.   • One-third of Australian news consumers listen to podcasts every month; and 11% listen to news podcasts, says the University of Canberra’s Digital News Report 2020, which came out earlier this year. The report also says that Aussies are more willing to pay for podcasts than news.

  • Veritonic, an audio measurement service, has raised $3.2m in new capital: one of the investors was Audible.

  • Personal Audio LLC, a company which claimed it had a patent for podcasting, may have been sent packing in May by the EFF, but zombies never die. The company has made a successful petition to the US Supreme Court to overturn the court’s decision to reject a review. The company wants money from CBS for damages for patent infringement, even though their patent was invalidated. (Podnews’s Editor is a personal member of the EFF. You should be too.)

  • A podcasting conference in Germany for Podcast Heroes has been announced.

  • We Are Podcast have just released a limited number of 50% off earlybird tickets for their next event on November 5-6.
