56% of heavy podcast listeners think the number of ads in podcasts is increasing; and 38% believe there are already too many, according to the Super Listeners Study from Edison Research, PodcastOne and Ad Results Media. However, listeners felt more positive towards ads than previous years.

Spotify released 2020 Unwrapped for advertisers. The company claims lots more listening from smart speakers (up 59% year-on-year) and games consoles (51%). Podcast listening in September was up 108% from September 2019.
- Spotify now officially owns Megaphone. The $235m acquisition was made official yesterday.
- The Joe Rogan Experience has shuttered its podcast website. Once at podcasts·joerogan·net: it now forwards to Spotify.

The BBC’s music, radio and podcasts app BBC Sounds is now available on more TV devices within the UK, including Roku, Now TV, Freesat, LG, Freeview Play, Google TV and Amazon Fire TV devices.
