Edison Research and PodcastOne’s study into Podcast Super Listeners has been published in full. 44% of them listen to public radio each week (significantly more than the population as a whole). SiriusXM and Pandora have signed a multi-year agreement with Marvel to produce podcasts featuring characters like Wolverine, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Star-Lord. Marvel podcasts have hitherto been produced by Stitcher Premium.

Podcasts are slowly getting less bitrate-heavy, according to our own research. Our technical analysis of recent podcast releases shows that 25% of new podcasts are mono, and the most popular bitrate for those has shifted to 64kbps, instead of 96kbps 18 months ago. The majority of podcasts are stereo, though, at 128kbps. Our analysis also shows that podcasters are continuing to standardise loudness to -16 LUFS.
