Home bitcoin and lightning node Umbrel has released v0.4.11, and with it, the first version of Helipad: an app that lets you see a live view of incoming boosts and boostagrams from your listeners. This lets anyone see feedback and payments of cryptocurrency from people using new podcast apps. We’ve a guide to get started.

UK culture secretary Nadine Dorries has announced (in a Sunday newspaper article) that government funding for the BBC will be frozen for two years, and abolished in 2027. The BBC is currently a mandatory fee for UK households of US $216 a year, for ten national TV channels and regional newsrooms, ten national radio stations, and more than 40 local radio stations, and a variety of online services. Producing content in every language in the UK, we calculate it is one of the top five most popular podcasters in the world. Dorries has since softened her view, leading some to believe it was just a ploy to distract from current UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s issues.

German podcast hosting company Julep Hosting has launched “Dynamic Baked-in”, a system that allows a bridge between baked-in advertising and DAI - allowing messages to be replaced with updated audio. It’s a first for the German market, the company says.
