  • The US Post Office pulls self-read ads from a podcast, after the ad-libbing went a little too far. (As the point of a self-read is to alib, this won’t be the last time this happens).

  • The patent for podcasting, invalidated in 2015, has been confirmed invalidated in the US Appeals Court.

  • Jon Ronson’s Audible-exclusive documentary, The Butterfly Effect, is now available more generally, ad-supported, with Midroll (there are seven episodes in the feed).

  • Podcast network Radiotopia is in the middle of a fundraiser. Currently, they boast 17,118 donors.

  • Spotify reveal data showing, counter-intuitively, that podcasts are workday friendly. Intuitively, they also show that the NYT’s Daily podcast is listened-to most in the morning.

  • The National Association of Realtors have a piece on how to measure the success of your podcast. “Although you can track the number of times people download your programs, you can gain deeper knowledge by asking listeners how your work is influencing them.” Presumably, they also recommend ensuring it’s a “few minutes walk” from the best school in the area, and boasts a newly renovated wet room.
