Tom Webster from Edison Research has published a version of his Podcast Movement speech, Three Ways To Survive Podcasting’s Existential Crisis. He suggests that listeners don’t care about RSS, and just care about the show: however it’s delivered. Webster recommends that we be on whatever platform listeners want us to be.

More big Hollywood names are making their way into podcasting: Ed O’Neill and Christopher Lloyd (Modern Family) are working on a spy podcast The Undercovers. It’s produced for DAX, being worked on by Jeff Schmidt and Mark Ramsey, and launches in October.

The Verge wrote a story about automated one-star ratings, covered by Podnews in July. The story has also been picked up by Search Engine Journal, who highlight “try not to let malicious reviews damage morale too much if you happen to receive them.”

MIC Media writes 9 things to know about Podcast Movement following their experience. “Meeting the face behind the voice is strange and joyous”, the company writes, then describes meeting, um, Podnews’s Editor. We guarantee “joyous” has never been used in this context before.

The Outlier Podcast Festival has announced five keynote speakers: Josh Hallmark, Misha Euceph, Todd Cochrane, Reema Khrais and John Asante. It’s in Los Angeles CA, Sep 13-14. They’re also hosting a pitching competition - the winner will receive a podcast startup package.
