The New York Times is planning to put many of its podcasts behind a paywall, according to The Wall Street Journal. Archives of The Daily, and first-access to new shows from Serial, are to be available to subscribers only. The Economist did the same last year.

In the UK, podcasts have more listeners than ever, according to a new study from Edison Research. The data says that 42% are monthly podcast listeners, and 30% listen weekly.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s InfoWars media platform is to be closed as part of his bankruptcy proceedings. His podcast was removed by Apple Podcasts and Spotify in Aug 2018; his self-hosted RSS feed is still available.

The Kar Podcast says it “will create a podcast made just for you and no one else”. After the sign-up, it says “you will get an email with the Spotify link on Friday”. Intriguing.

Three days after its international closure, Zombie Google Podcasts is still alive - the app still plays podcasts, and is still available in the iOS and Android app stores outside the US. Zombie Google Podcasts Manager is still accepting new shows, too. We understand that Zombie Google Podcasts can be stopped by removing the head or destroying the brain.
