- Feb 26: Heavyweight is to return, as Jonathan Goldstein and his team of producers join Malcolm Gladwell’s Pushkin Industries. The show will return later this year; it was with Gimlet, becoming a Spotify exclusive in Nov 2021. Spotify cancelled the show in Dec 2023.
- Mar 6, 2024: Violence. Retaliation. Disappearances. Spotify's Stolen has returned for its third season, Trouble in Sweetwater, this week. The Navajo Nation is 27,000 square miles of remote terrain with just over 200 tribal police officers. Connie Walker looks into the cases of two missing women, taking her on a search for justice in a place where people say you can get away with murder. The first season made history last year when it won a Pulitzer Prize and Peabody Award in the same year. Notably, it's lost its Gimlet branding.
- Mar 1, 2024: Yesterday evening, Gimlet, Parcast and Ringer Unions appeared to have failed to have reached a deal with Spotify management. Ringer Union claims 86% of their members are ready to walk out, while 100% of Gimlet’s team are.
- Jan 29, 2024: The Gimlet Union reports that Spotify management are not participating in contract discussions. The Ringer Union “has made notable progress” on its negotations though, but differences remain.
- Jan 26, 2024: Spotify announced “time-synched transcripts for more podcasts on the platform” at the end of September. While you can opt-in to this process within Spotify for Podcasters (and we have), we can only find it active for a few Gimlet shows. Podcasters can’t edit transcripts or supply their own.
